Robert Louroy Bishop
Mary Adell Dugger Bishop
Harlingen:
Robert Louroy Bishop (January 21, 1924-December 31, 2013) and Mary Adell Dugger Bishop (January 29, 1926-January 2, 2014), lived a full and fulfilling life here on earth and this past week passed on to join their Father in Heaven.  They were married on May 3, 1947.
Robert (Bob) was born in Wellington, Kansas to Carlton Cromer Bishop and Dot Marie Probst Bishop.  He attended Edinburg High School, Class of 1942.   Bob entered the United States Navy as Sonarman in 1942; he was honorably discharged in 1946 as Sonarman 1st class.  He was employed at Golden Jersey Creamery from June 1939 to May 1, 1942. After his service to his country he worked at Unique Appliance Service in Edinburg, TX from 1946 – 1949 and then at Fitz Patrick & Osborne; Rio-Radio; Audio Center; B. B. Company; and Circle Industries.  He assumed ownership of Circle Industries in 1971 and retired in 1985.
Mary was born in Ada, Oklahoma to Willard Kent Dugger and Audry Rosewell Dugger.  She attended Edinburg High School, Class of 1945.  She worked at Woolsworth and J. C. Penney.  She spent many years volunteering at Valley Baptist Hospital Auxiliary.
After their marriage they faithfully attended services at Edinburg Church of Christ, San Juan Church of Christ, North Main Church of Christ in McAllen, Harvey Drive Church of Christ in McAllen, and 8th and Harrison Church of Christ in Harlingen.
Bob's siblings include William C. Bishop and Betty K. Kotila(deceased).  Mary's siblings include Ada Cann (deceased), Aline Watson (deceased), Richard Dugger (deceased), Fonda Haney, and Elmer Dugger.
They were the proud parents to three boys: Robert Wayne (Diana Wilson Bishop); Gary Luroy (Necia Annalyn Sapp Bishop); and Carl Kent (Julie Johanna Eck Bishop).  Proud Grandparents to Brent C. Bishop (Becky); Amy D. Mueller(Land); Amanda B. Acree (Brent); Karen R Collins (James); Michael W. Bishop (Leslie); Kimberly A. Young (Scott); Robert L. Bishop (Jodi); John C. Bishop (Maddie); and David E. Bishop.  Proud Great-Grandparents to 15 Great-Grandchildren, (Matthew, Michael, Mandy Loftus; Joshua and Victoria Collins; Autumn and Summer Mueller; Liberti and Dylan Bishop; Isaac Young, Cambra Young, Liliana Bishop, Evelyn and Olympia Acree, Bonnie Bishop).
Bob's interest included reading, woodworking, clocks, puzzles, and his family.  It was commonly known amongst his friends and family that he was a magician in his shop with wood and clocks.  Bob had many stories and loved to joke with friends, family, and anybody that would listen. Mary's interests were church activities, Golden Agers, children, and her family. Mary loved to cook for her family and friends.  She was also a servant of the Lord evidenced by her many years of teaching Bible classes and taking others to doctor’s appointments and to Ladies Bible class when they could not drive themselves.  She also had a hearty and contagious laugh.
This is a bittersweet time for the family.  They mourn the loss of being able to physically see and be with their "Patriarchs", remembering the stories and jokes Bob would tell them with delight and the smiles, hugs, guidance and advice Mary provided.  They rejoice with the fact that they are once again together rejoicing with the Saints; singing Psalms of praise to their Father in Heaven. The family fondly remembers Bob and Mary for the life story of their enduring love for one another that spanned over a lifetime.  They loved and cared for their family.  They leave a legacy of love and faith that will certainly live on in their family and the numerous lives they have touched along the way as living examples of how a husband is to treat his wife; a wife is to treat her husband; how parents are to raise their children; and how to live a faithful Christian life filled with Christ's love.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the 8th and Harrison Church of Christ in the chapel on 9th and Harrison at 10 a.m. with Jake Vincent officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sunny Glenn Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1373, San Benito, Texas 78586.
The family would like to thank the Atrium Place and Canterbury Courts Assisted Living for their care.
