Martin N. Camarillo

November 11, 1921 — December 29, 2012

Rio Hondo - In the early morning hours of December 29, 2012, the Lord’s faithful servant, Martìn Nava Camarillo, surrounded by his family, went to be with our Heavenly Father to rest in everlasting peace.  He was born on November 11, 1921 in Matehuala, San Luìs Potosì, México to Gertrudis Camarillo and Marìa (Nava) Camarillo.
He is preceded in death by his two siblings, Filemón Camarillo and Seferina Camarillo Estrada, and his first wife, Pastor Rebeca Camarillo.
Martìn lived the majority of his life in Galveston, Texas where he and his first wife were founding members of the First Latin Assembly of God Church in the early 1960s.  By their stewardship and foundation-setting, the church is still active in membership today.
He retired from his career as a longshoreman with the Maritime International Association of Longshoremen after 27 years, and spent the last several years of his life in Rio Hondo, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Camarillo; his children, Martin Jr., Iric, Jessica, and Jamie; son-in-law, Douglas; and grandchildren, Doak and Reagan.
Visitation will take place at San Benito Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Wake service will commence at 7:00 pm following visitation.
Funeral services will take place at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Iglesia La Trinidad in Rio Hondo, Texas, special guest Pastor John Medeiros officiating, with interment to follow at Rio Hondo Community Cemetery.
The family of Martìn Camarillo would like to thank the many family members and friends who have kept him in prayer and cared for his family in their own way leading up to his passing into glory.  Also, a very special thank-you to the caring staff of Valley Baptist Medical Center, especially the third floor nurses, for their care and compassion.
