Martha De La Rosa Hernandez, 78, passed away April 5, 2015 with her family by her side in Harlingen, TX, after a brief illness.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Porfirio and Elisa De La Rosa, her siblings, Juan Manual De La Rosa and Beatrice Garza.
Left to cherish her unconditional love are her children, Eli Hernandez, Sandra Thomas (Tim), Emilio Hernandez Jr (Norma), and Elizabeth Hernandez; adored grandchildren, Ashley and Brandon Thomas. Also surviving are special friends, Roland Garza and Viola Solis Chavez.
Affectionately called “Martita”, she will be forever remembered for the love and devotion to her children, her unique sense of humor, as well as her giving and generous spirit towards everyone. Her passion for cooking and baking was legendary, as she was always eager to share her recipes and invite friends to her table. Martita was a fearless woman who overcame many challenges in her life. She will be dearly missed and deeply appreciated by her friends and family. Her legacy to those who knew her are family values and strong conviction to faith in the Lord.
Pall bearers are Emilio Hernandez Jr, Eli Hernandez, Roland Garza, Brandon Thomas, Tim Thomas, and Misael (Smiley) Garcia.
Visiting hours are on Thursday, April 9,, 2015 at San Benito Funeral Home – 1400 W. Hwy 77 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Ignacio at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 351 S. Bowie St. in San Benito, with services following the Mass at Mont Meta Memorial Park, 26170 State Hwy. 345 in San Benito, TX.
