Martha Bermea Flores died peacefully in her sleep on August 26, 2021. Martha was born on January 22, 1937 in Harlingen, Texas to Santos and Guadalupe Bermea. She was a life-long resident of Harlingen.
After graduating from high school, Martha continued her education and became a certified X-ray Technician. Throughout her career, she worked at Valley Baptist Medical Center, numerous clinics throughout Harlingen and eventually retired from Valley Children’s Clinic. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed working with children.
Martha was an avid art lover and collector and loved classical piano music. She enjoyed playing piano and she did it with such grace and perfect pitch. Martha was also a devoted Catholic and was very proud of her early Catholic education. However, of all her accomplishments, she took the most pride in being a mom and caring for her children.
Martha was loving, kind-hearted, generous, funny and most of all, a selfless human being whose priority was to take care of her family and she will be dearly missed.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel G. Flores, as well as her son Gerardo (Gerry) B. Flores, and her parents, Santos and Guadalupe Bermea.
Martha is survived by her children, Tony (Claudia), Orlando (Sofia), Jorge, and Sue (Joe); her grandchildren, Jarred, Marisa, Zachery, Addie, Jordan and Sarah; her twin sister, Maria Quiroz; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A private service and interment will take place in Harlingen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Martha’s name to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1015 E. Van Buren Ave., Harlingen, TX 78550.
