Mark Steven Pingel, 51, of Harlingen died on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center.
He was born September 25, 1959 in Ft. Dodge, IA. He moved to Harlingen in August 1978 and graduated from South Texas High School in May, 1982. Mark made many friends while working for Scurlocks Grocery from 1981 until its closing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Gene Pingel; step-father, Marvin Pugh.
Mark is survived by his mother Joan Pugh; his brother and sister, Michael (Diane) Pingel of Austin, TX, Cherie (David) Tuffin of Knutsford, England, Rebecca (Rigo) Vallejo of Austin, TX, Matthew (Yvette) Pingel of Kingwood, TX. Also surviving are his nieces and nephew, Lauren and Christopher Vallejo and Megan Pingel.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011, 10 a.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
