Marjorie SoRell

April 15, 1931 — March 19, 2012

Marjorie Mae Patty SoRell, beloved wife of Cecil Ray SoRell for 62 years and loving mother of 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, passed into glory on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the age of 80. Throughout a long illness and disability, Margy remained a positive influence for all who knew her.  Her great faith in her Lord and Savior carried her through a long and eventful life.
Margy married the love of her life, Cecil Ray SoRell in March of 1949 and raised 5 children. Margy retired from Harlingen Schools after a long and fulfilling career as a Librarian.
Margy was born to Alton and Margaret Patty in 1931 and graduated from Harlingen High School in 1947.  She worshipped as a member of the First Baptist Church of Combes, Texas for over 50 years and served in many capacities in the church.
Margy attended Texas A & I College before marrying Cecil.  She was a member of Eastern Stars.  She was an avid reader and loved fishing with Cecil at their Arroyo home.  She had a great love for cats and was a member of the Rio Grand Valley Cat Association.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Ray SoRell; children, Boyd (Laurie) SoRell, Russell (Jan) Sorell, Cyndy (Darrell) Newport, Victoria (John) Clark, and Thomas SoRell; grandchildren, Myriah, Brenna, Rachel SoRell, Reagan and Janabeth SoRell, Cassie Newport, Angela Rowland, Janna Sullenger, Kimberly Scherler, John Clark, Jessica SoRell, Nicole SoRell and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jeanne Rains and grandson, Matthew Ray Clark.
Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Margy’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Combes, 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 22, 2012 with the Rev. Steve Wiest officiating.  Burial will follow at the Harlingen-Combes Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be John Kibler, Charles Pool, Riles Steussy, Marcus Bailey, Irv Hanaman, Billy Grissom, Matt Brown and Reagan SoRell.
The family request that those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to Faith Promise Mission Program, c/c 1st Baptist Church of Combes, PO Box 598, Combes, TX 78535.
