Marjorie Marie Bailey

Harlingen: Marjorie (Margie) Marie Bailey, 87, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at her residence in Harlingen, Texas. Margie was born on a farm near Camden, Indiana on March 22, 1921 to parents, Jesse and Edna Yeager. She graduated from Purdue University in 1942. While at Purdue she met her husband, Tom, and they were married September 20, 1942. They moved to Sharon, PA in 1951 where Margie taught physical education and home economics at Sharon High School and Junior High School until her retirement in the early 1980’s. She also taught adult Sunday School at St. Paul United Church of Christ for many years. In 1989 they moved to Harlingen so Margie could pursue her favorite pass times golf and swimming. They moved to Golden Palms Retirement Center in 1999 where she continued to be very active with Duplicate Bridge, water aerobics, swimming, walking, etc. They also attended the First United Methodist Church in Harlingen, Texas. Margie is survived by her husband, Thomas S. Bailey of Harlingen, TX; daughter, Wanda Huffman of Cloverdale, CA; son, Thomas W. Bailey of Palmyra, VA; granddaughters, Donna Huffman of San Jose, CA and Marjorie Bertsch of Arcata, CA; grandson, Tom Bailey of New York, NY and sister, Virginia Marcellino of Camden, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Yeager of Indiana, sisters, Thelma Pekary of California, Charline Robeson of Indiand, and Jeanette McClure of Indiana. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers of Margie over the last few weeks, Ruby and Paul Navarette, Anthony Ruiz, Monica Gonzales, of P&N Caregivers. A memorial service honoring the life of Margie will be held in the Texas Room at Golden Palms Retirement Center, 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 21, 2009. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 2501 Paredes Line Rd., Ste. B-9, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
