Marilyn W. Brauner
Harlingen:
Marilyn Whittaker Brauner died May 21, 2008.  Marilyn was born in New Orleans on August 9, 1921.  She graduated from Eleanor MacMain High School in 1937 and married Alvin Robert Brauner on September 18, 1946.  They emigrated to Chicago where their three children were born and in 1968 moved to Bethesda, Maryland.  In 2005, Al and Marilyn moved to Harlingen to be near their youngest daughter.
Marilyn served for years as a Girl Scout leader and later as President of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Welcome Wagon.  She loved Broadway musicals and opera, and enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, and bowling.  She was a skilled bridge player and voracious reader and avidly followed professional and college sports, especially baseball and ice hockey.  Although tiny, Marilyn had a huge appetite for her favorite foods:  crawfish, avocados, and above all, chocolate.
Her beloved husband of 60+ years predeceased her in March.  She is survived by daughters Sandra Boys (Joe), Melanie Mattingly (David Lilly) and Cheryl LaBerge (Curtis Bonner), and grandson, Brandon Charles Mattingly.
There will be no local services.
