Marilyn Lucille Anderson passed from this life to life everlasting on Saturday July 28th 2018 at the age of 82 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Marilyn was born on February 15, 1936 in Charleston, Illinois to Arthur Leo Wilson and Leora Augusta Wilson. She was received as a child of God through baptism on March 15, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charleston, Illinois. Marilyn was the middle child of three girls, her older sister Mina Lee and younger sister Georgia. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School in Harlingen, Texas and was a member of St. Paul’s first 8th grade graduating class. She then attended Harlingen High School. Marilyn was confirmed in faith at St. Paul on April 2, 1950. On August 30th 1952 Marilyn married Guy Younger Anderson in Harlingen, Texas. They were blessed with six children. She was a lifelong and active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving in various ministry groups. Marilyn worked for the Harlingen School District for many years in the HOST program at Long Elementary School until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Leora Wilson, sister Georgia Pendergrass, daughter in law Debbie Anderson and grandson James Anderson.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Guy Anderson, her sister Mina Lee Galloway, her children, Michael Anderson, Sherry (Sam) Reitz, Arthur (Kristi) Anderson, Joel (Beth) Anderson, Quentin (Eileen) Anderson and Rodney (Cynthia) Anderson and numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family members present is under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home and will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the funeral home at 710 Ed Carey Drive, Harlingen. A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Harlingen at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 with Rev. Nathan Wendorf officiating followed by a reception at the church. Interment to follow the reception at Restlawn Memorial Park, 14166 Business 83, La Feria, Texas at 2:00 pm.
The family would like to thank the pastors, staff, and members of St. Paul Lutheran Church for the outpouring of love and support they have provided throughout Marilyn’s life. We appreciate the nurses and doctors of the MICU at Valley Baptist Medical Center for the care that Marilyn received there. We would like to especially thank Mrs. Henrietta Peynado of VBMC Palliative Care Unit, for the friendship and kindness she has shown to Guy and Marilyn for many years. In addition, the family would also like to thank Mrs. Susie Castillo who has been a friend and help to Marilyn through APC Homemaker Services.
