Marie P. Bolado

May 5, 1925 — April 21, 2016

On April 21, 2016 the lord took Marie Bolado home, as she was only lent by him to fill our lives with her love and beauty. She passed in Grapevine, Texas, surrounded by her family and friends. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Robert.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her sister, Katie Dickens and her brother, Bill Polizo. She is survived by her daughter Leita Blair and husband Bill Garcia, her grandson, Robert Anthony, her great-granddaughter, Deztoni, and her brother, Fred Polizo of Califonia. She had two step-grandchildren Andrew Garcia and Laura Naida and two great grandchildren, Landon and Emma Garcia.

Marie was no stranger to her hometown. She was raised in San Benito where she attended high school. She was the first woman dispatcher for the police department, worked for the Telephone Company, the Harlingen Credit Bureau and Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio. She ran a cotton brokerage company for the Marshall family and an insurance agency for Sam Moon.

Marie was a visionary who loved to read and was involved in politics. Her vision was that San Benito would one day be a flourishing town. On her return to her hometown, she began her entrepreneurial career. She owned Marie’s Flower Shop, The Wash Tub, The Bride Shop, and a convenience and liquor store. She and Her husband built The Candlewood Estates. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the HUD Board, and SBEC. In 1967 she was given an award by the National PTA for her years of service as president of the Landrum PTA.

Until we are reunited again, those we love do not go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. She will always be lovingly remembered as an amazing mother and wonderful grandmother.
Vistitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel from 3:00p.m.-9:00p.m. A holy rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m. Celebration of life mass will be held at St. Benedict Catholic Church Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Cemetery.
