Heaven has gained another Saint. Our Lord welcomed our awesome loving mother into Paradise on Friday, March 12, 2021. We thank God for having blessed us with her for 85 years and also with the privilege of allowing us time with her at her bedside loving and comforting her.
Our mom, our Queen, we love you and you will forever be in our hearts.
María Ratliff Benavides was born on July 19, 1935 in San Benito, Texas to Fred Ratliff Sr. and Rebecca Flores Ratliff.
María was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family unconditionally.
She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
Mrs. Benavides is preceded in death by her loving husband Eduardo “Lalo” Benavides; her parents, Fred and Rebecca Ratliff; maternal grandparents, Federico and Concepción (Amá Chonita) Flores; paternal grandparents, James Franklin Ratliff and Andrea Balli; brothers Frank, Fred and Ricardo Ratliff; sister Raquel García and brother-in-law, David B. Miller.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Cristela Martínez, Sue (Jesse) Camacho, Charlie (Roberto) Salas, Edna (Cristóbal Sr.) Rojas, and Roberto “Bobby” (Lupita) Benavides; grandchildren, Cristóbal Rojas Jr., Josué Eduardo Rojas, Solomon Rojas, Reynaldo Martínez Jr., Jennifer Cruz, Jessica Corona, Priscilla M Mata, Lori M. Hernández, Crystal A. Arzola, Angela Marie Martínez, Elisea Salas, Cordero Salas, Kimberly Ortega, and Joseph Ortega; 17 great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild; sisters Rosalva Miller, Ruby Leal, Rebecca Rodríguez, Janie Ortiz; and brother, Edwardo García.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Wednesday evening at 7 o’clock. (Click on the link below to view a live-stream starting at 5:30 p.m.) A graveside service and interment will take place on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Cristóbal Rojas Jr., Josué Eduardo Rojas, Solomon Rojas, Roberto Salas, Edward Rey Martínez, Aaron Cruz, Roberto Benavides, Joseph Ortega, and Sergio Mata.
