Maria R. Castillo, 75, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Castillo was born in El Rancho Ranchito, Tamp., Mexico to Jose Villafranca Garcia and Carlota Trevino Longoria. She was a member of St. Wendlin Catholic Church in Fostoria, Ohio and a faithful member of the Guadalupanas of her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ysidro Castillo Jr.; her parents Jose and Carlota Villafranca and a dear nephew Santiago “Jimmy” Cortez, Jr.
Mrs. Castillo is survived by her loving children, Richard Ramirez, John (Christine) Ramirez, Linda Ramirez and Sonia Castillo; siblings Guadalupe (Arturo) Juarez, Manuela (Candido) Gonzalez, Eva Leal, Maria Elena Torres, Bart (Connie) Villafranca, Olga Cortez; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
The funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Msgr. Pedro Briseno as celebrant. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
Honored to be serving as pallbearers are Candido Gonzalez, Javier Gonzalez, Celedonio Sanchez, Martin Trevino, Rolando Trevino, Diana Durlam and Denise Cortez.
