Maria Santa Gonzalez

Maria Santa Gonzalez 70, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023 in San Benito, Texas.  She was born to Hipolito Hernandez and Josefina T. Hernandez on August 5, 1953 in San Benito, Texas.

Maria graduated from San Benito High School and attended Pan American University, where she received a degree in Business.  She was an employee of World Finance for 32 years.

Maria was a devoted catholic and helped a lot at the church bazaar.  She enjoyed attending church, the San Benito Football Greyhounds, going to many restaurants, the casino trips and loved Las Vegas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hipolito and Josefina T. Hernandez.

Left to treasure Maria’s memory is her husband, Daniel G. Gonzalez and her pets, Dora, Duke and Daisy.

The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Norma Schachrel with San Benito Medical Associates, PA. Maribel De La Ponce with Texas Digestive Specialist and Dr. Marco Araneda with Texas Oncology of Harlingen for their care.

The Gonzalez family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in San Benito.  Following the service, Santa will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Noe Gonzalez, Alex Rios, Felix Cuevas, Lupe Hernandez, Rene Casares, Anthony Ramirez, Luis Zuniga Jr., and Roel Hernandez.  Jose Luis Hernandez will serve as honorary pallbearer.
