Maria (Campos) Rodriguez

Maria C. Rodriguez went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the age of 91.  She was born to Manuel and Eloida Campos on October 3, 1926 in Linares, N.L., Mexico.

Maria was a long-time member of Primera Iglesia Bautista of San Benito where she served as a Sunday school teacher, prayer leader, children’s ministry worker, and active member of the Women’s Missionary Union.  She was frequently called on by church members for her counsel and for “consejos.”  Many pastors, missionaries, and Christian lay leaders were influenced and encouraged by her love and guidance.  Maria loved gardening, sewing, and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Esteban V. Rodriguez and their sons, Guadalupe Rodriguez and Esteban Rodriguez, Jr.

Left to treasure Maria’s memory are her children, Daniel Rodriguez, Joe F. Rodriguez, Gloria (LeRoy) Gomez, and Rosalinda Rodriguez; grandchildren, Gabrielle (Ramon) Ocumarez, Lucas Andrew (Belinda) Gomez, Rebecca (Jose Luis) Martinez, Jamie (Rachel) Meza, Clare Meyte Willies; great-grandchildren, Michael Ocumarez, Madison Rose Gomez, Mia Navarette, Zeke Martinez, Zion Martinez, Josiah Martinez, Zelah Martinez, Olivia Meza; sisters, Felipa (Nicolas) Gonzalez.

Maria’s family will be receiving relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 PM at San Benito Funeral Home with Rev. Moises Gonzalez officiating.  A Homegoing Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 501 W. Robertson St., San Benito, TX.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
