Maria Manuelita Medrano “Mela” had a love for life; she articulated it with her humble and sweet way of loving her God, family, church, and community. Mela enjoyed the outdoors for the life it gave her. She now holds a large memory with us that will endure for years to come. Mela entered this world on May 28, 1957, and gained her wings at the age of 67 at home in Harlingen, TX on August 30, 2024.
She always set aside time to watch her favorite TV show “The Big Bang Theory,” but not before making sure she had someone bring her favorite snacks, which were walnuts, cashews and a large coke. With this, she would always say “now I can watch my show.” She was an enthusiastic and committed housekeeper with a career of 20+ years at the “Save Inn” in Harlingen, TX. Maria was a truly devoted member of “Abundant Life” Church and always ensured its pantry stayed maintained and operated accordingly. She always found boundless joy in the simplest things in life and was always willing to help anyone in any way she could.
Mela is preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Medrano, mother Rebecca Vasquez, sister Maria Elena Garcia, brother Leonires Garcia, sister Maria Francisca Escobedo, brother Martin Garcia and nephew Francisco Escobedo. Our beloved Mela will forever be Missed, Cherished and Honored by her loved ones, and continue her legacy by living and enjoying life to the fullest.
Mela is survived by her siblings Juan Jose Escobedo, Juanita Martinez (Alejos), Guadalupe Garcia Jr. (Janie), and Carmen Garcia and her best and closest friends, just to name a couple are Maricela, Maria, Beatrice, and Lulu.
