Maria De Los Angeles, “Angie or Angelita,” Huerta, age 84, entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Pilar and Isabel (Inguanzo) Zamora, on May 31, 1939, in San Benito, Texas.
Angelita was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she was an inspirational woman of faith. She participated as a lector and a member of the church choir for many years. She loved to sing even though she did not know how to read the music notes; she was blessed with an ear for music. She sang from her heart and had a beautiful voice. She was also involved with other ministries, such as the prayer group and devoted her time and efforts during the annual church fall festival and the Easter Passion procession. Angelita was also an ACTS Sister in Christ.
Angelita truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She was a kind and soft-spoken woman who always made time to listen and offer advice as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and/or friend. She loved to read the bible and would write poems about her reading interpretations; she compiled an entire collection of poems. She always opened her doors to those who needed a home and offered them a place at the table. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. However, we know she is now rejoicing and dancing with the love of her life, +Pepe “El Pachuco.”
Angelita is preceded in death by her husband, Jose R. “Pepe” Huerta; her son, Juan Jose Huerta; her parents, Pilar and Isabel Zamora; her brother, Ernesto Zamora; and her in-laws, Pablo and Guadalupe R. Huerta.
Left to treasure her memory are her children, Maria (Juan Antonio) Guzmán; Jesus (Sofia) Huerta; Guadalupe (Roberto) Benavides; San Juanita (Eugenio) Ortiz; Jose (+Veronica) Huerta; Julian (Mary Frances) Huerta; and Fatima (+Alex) Garcia; her grandchildren Mark and Melissa Guzmán; Jesse Jr. (Yvette), Jacqueline (Trevor) Trenholm, Jonathan (Marissa), Amanda (Nestor) Rodriguez, Joshua (Laura), Alexxis (Antonio) Estrada, and Audrey Huerta; Kimberly (Mike) Marquez and Joseph (Cecilia) Ortega; Jacob, Justin, and Dr. Jovannah Ortiz; Jasmine Huerta; Julian Jr., Jaelynn, Jaedyn, and Jiannah Huerta; Alexia (Aldo) Banda; Alex Jr. “Hondo” (Julie) Garcia, and Angelina Garcia; her siblings, Ambrosio Zamora, Josefina Salinas, and Guadalupe Campos; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
