Maria Magdalena “Maggie” Guerra Jantz went home to the Lord on November 2, 2018. Maggie was born in San Benito on December 16, 1941 to Samuel Guerra and Maria Villarreal Guerra. Maggie worked for H.E.B. for over 34 years. After her retirement, she worked at H.E.B. as a food demonstrator and as a substitute teacher for San Benito CISD. Maggie had many hobbies that included gardening, cooking and sewing. Although Maggie kept herself busy, she always made time for others. She was the one you could always count on because of her generous heart and compassion for people. She also enjoyed politics, a trait her father instilled in her. In 1986, Maggie was the first woman to be appointed to the San Benito Planning and Zoning board. She remained connected to politics by working the polls and enjoyed it greatly.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Jantz; her longtime partner, Jesse Rosales; parents, Samuel Guerra and Maria V. Guerra; her sister, Carlota Sanchez.
Maggie is survived by Carlota+ (Ruperto) Sanchez; Corina(Artemio) Lopez; Alice Moody, Ernestina (Michael) Dennis-Jones; Carlos(Linda) Guerra; Rosie (Frank) Garcia; Janie (Felipe) Silva; Yolanda Guerra; Norma (Manuel+) Gonzalez, Anna Maria Guerra; Sammy (Mary) Guerra; Ruby Brady, and approximately 40 nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her caregivers and family and friends for their prayers and support through this time.
