Maria Ofelia Gonzales

RIO HONDO, TX. – Maria Ofelia Gonzales, born on the 24th of January 1927 in San Benito, Texas, died on Friday, the 8th of January 2016 at her residence surrounded by family. She was eighty-eight years old.
Mom was a very compassionate, caring, and mentally strong individual who loved and stressed family unity. She loved driving around with her son Richie, driving herself to Sunglo Adult Day Care, where she was a member for many years. She will be dearly missed by all of her loved ones.
Her husband, Faustino Gonzales; sons Alfredo Gonzales, Ricardo Gonzales, and Anselmo Gonzales; and daughter, Senaida Gonzales, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters Janie (Gregorio) Contreras, Hilda Gonzales Reyna, Emma (Remigio) Aguilar, Irma (Joe) Garza, and Minerva (Eluterio) Leos; sons Gonzalo Gonzales, Gilberto (Elsa) Gonzales, and Oracio Gonzales; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours are on Sunday, the 10th of January 2016, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a prayer service to begin at seven o’clock Sunday evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Highway 77, San Benito, Texas 78586.
A chapel service will commence on Monday, the 11th of January 2016, at one o’clock in the afternoon. Interment will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Danny Leal, Jaime Leal, Jose Luis “Joey” Garza, Narz Hernandez, Enrique “Ricky” Leos, Jr., Joshua Gonzales, and Mason Gonzales will serve as pallbearers.
