Maria Elena Martinez, 76, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Maria was born on August 19, 1941 to Francisco and Eugena Carmona in Cd. Valle Hermoso, Tamps., Mexico. She was a lifelong resident of San Benito and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Alfonzo Martinez, Sr., her parents, a son, Hilario Martinez, granddaughter, Isabel Mya Ramirez, grandsons, Jose Perez and Jesse Robles. She is survived by daughters Anita Reeves, Magdalena (Rene) Ramirez, Irma (Tomas) Perez, Irene (Eduardo) Moreno; sons Alberto Martinez, Alfonzo (Isaac) Martinez, and Victor Alfonzo Guzman; sister Gregoria Fernandez; and brother Jose Carmona; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in San Benito. Burial will follow at Las Rucias Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Alex Guzman, Albert Guzman, Tommy Perez, Ben Perez, Richard Reeves, Samuel Reeves, Orlando Delgado and Victor Alfonso Guzman.
