Maria Elena Cortez

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Elena Cortez, age 89 on July 14, 2024. Maria was born on April 2, 1935, to the late Santos and Guadalupe Rodriguez. She will always be remembered for her love of music, her vocation of teaching children, adults, and her devotion to God, family, and friends.

Maria Elena Cortez is preceded in death by her husband Gregorio Cortez Jr. Maria Elena Cortez is survived by her children Gregorio Cortez III (Susan), Cynthia Genoveva Estrada (Manuel), and Homer Joel Cortez (Nora), nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on July 21, 2024 at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m.  (The memorial service will be live-streamed: https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/index.php?data=MTcyMTUzMjM4MjMxOTc1MiZvbmVyb29tLWFkbWluJmNvcHlfbGluaw==)   Interment will be on July 22, 2024 at Mont Meta Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are her Grandsons: David Cortez, Daniel Cortez, Homer Cortez Jr, Bryan Cortez, Adam Cortez, Stephen Cortez, Justin Estrada, Paul Estrada, and Matthew Estrada.
