Maria Estella Carpio

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Maria Estella Carpio at the age of seventy-three. Estella was a beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt, educator, and friend whose life touched many through her kindness, dedication, and selflessness.

Estella was the cherished sister of Javier Carpio (Anita) and Graciela Carpio. She was a devoted aunt to James Carpio (Nancy), Eric Carpio (Veronica), Allison Solorio (Luis), Steven Rivera, Jessica Carpio (Jenny), Julio Carpio IV (Kris), Jason Carpio, and Christopher Carpio (Alyssa). She was also a loving great aunt to several great-nieces and great-nephews, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

As an educator for 40 years, Estella dedicated her life to shaping the minds and hearts of students. She began her career at Pharr San Juan Alamo ISD and spent most of her remarkable career at the San Benito School District, where she served as both a teacher and a coach. Estela’s positive influence extended far beyond the classroom, affecting the lives of countless students and colleagues alike. Her generosity, dedication, and genuine personality made her a beloved figure in the community.

A member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and actively involved with St. Theresa A.C.T.S., Estella participated in nine retreats throughout the Valley. She was a passionate supporter of the San Benito Greyhound Football Team, San Benito Lady Hounds Softball, and the Dallas Cowboys.

Estella’s family fondly remembers her delightful Mississippi Yummy and her enjoyment of music by The Beatles and Madonna. Her deep love for her family and pets is a testament to her unwavering support and warmth that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Julio M. Carpio; her mother, Carmen Carpio; her brother, Julio Carpio; her sister-in-law, Josie Carpio, and her great nephew, Zachary Solorio.
