Margarito Briones

June 10, 1927 — October 20, 2011

San Benito, TX – Margarito (Mage) Galvan Briones, son of the late Catarina and Eugenio Briones, born on June 10, 1927, passed away peacefully in his San Benito Home on October 20, 2011 at the age of 84.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Luciana G. Briones; his children, Juan (Ninfa) Briones, Ester (Joe) Martinez, Elva Briones, Jorge (Elizabeth) Briones, Elma (Michael, Sr.) Tipton, Joel (Patricia) Briones, and Elisa (Michael) Gil; 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, as well as siblings, and numerous extended family members and friends.

Margarito served dutifully in the United States Army; he worked for 32 years at the service department for Central Power and Light Co.; following retirement he dedicated the remainder of his life to serving the Lord as a Catholic Deacon in San Benito parishes and as a member of the Catholic War Veterans. He served both God and his community faithfully and tirelessly. He was a devoted husband and father whose love, humor and wisdom were beyond compare. He was truly an example to all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2011 and Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 P.M. both evenings at San Benito Funeral Home.

The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Monday, October 24, 2011  at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
