Margarita I. (Morales) De La Garza

Margarita I. De La Garza, age 94, was called home on December 18, 2022 while surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Margarita was preceded in death by her husband Gilberto “Tony” De La Garza in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ramón and María Del Refugio Silva de Morales, and her two sisters and two brothers. Margarita was the last surviving member of her family.

She is survived by her children, Hector (Lupita) De La Garza and their son, Hector B. De La Garza; her son, Gilberto De La Garza, Jr. (Virginia) and their children, Christopher (Estela), Cynthia (Victor Eric) Gonzales, and Claudia (Anika) De La Garza; daughter, Norma (Ernesto) Villarreal and their children, Ernesto Jr. (Sylvia Melissa) and Lisa Marie Villarreal. Margarita is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and by her sister-in-law, Dolores Garcia.

The family wishes to thank her providers, Leonor Caballero and Carmen Rangel, for the excellent and unconditional care given to their mother throughout the years. Also thank you to Greater Valley Hospice for their service and guidance to the family.

The De La Garza family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock on Wednesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons and nephews.
