Margarita Villalon

February 3, 1931 — September 23, 2015

LA FERIA, TX. – Margarita “Mage” Villalón, age 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.

She was born in La Feria where she resided for all of her life. Mage was a very active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church where she served on the Santa Monica Society as president for 50 years. She was a devout member of the Schoenstatt Marian Movement as well as a proprietor of Garcia’s Produce for fifty years. Margarita was a devoted wife and a loving, caring and sacrificing mother as well as a devoted sister and loving aunt.

Her husband, Jose Maria Villalón, Sr. and her older sister, Paula Martinez, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her five children  Fr. Joe Villalón, Jr. of San Benito, Joel (Jeanette) Villalón, Rolando (Susana) Villalón, Daniel Villalón, Aricela (Patrick) McGill all of La Feria; seven grandchildren Michael Villalón, Ashley Villalón, Justin Villalón, Brittany Garza, Aaron Villalón, Tiffany Villalón and Debani Garza;  and two great-grandchildren, Lilah Mendiola and Lexie Mucino. Also surviving her are three sisters Clara Zimmerer, Oralia Eusebio, and Manuela Vela.

Visiting hours are on Friday, September 25, 2015, beginning at three o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Friday evening at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 502 S. Canal Street, La Feria, Texas 78559.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at ten o’clock in the morning, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with her son Fr. Joe Villalón as celebrant. Con-celebrating will be Bishop Raymundo Peña, Emeritus, and numerous other priests.
Committal services will then follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Michael Villalón, Justin Villalón, Aaron Villalón, Rene Martinez, Leonard Zimmerer, and Isaac Vela.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Good Samaritan/Veranda Nursing Homes for the loving care they provided for Mage the last few years of her life. The family truly appreciates the wonderful staff.
