Margarita S. Martinez

San Benito, TX: Margarita “Maggie” S. Martinez, 65, was granted new wings on December 15, 2011. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends.
Margarita was born on September 6, 1946 in San Benito to the late Hilario Martinez and Maria S. Martinez; she chose the life of a nurse, taking inspiration from the passion she had for helping others out. She dedicated almost 36 years of her life to working with the mentally handicap at Rio Grande State Center. She was always involved in work and church activities. She shared her passion for baking cakes with all; she enjoyed organizing family gatherings so that all could come together to celebrate. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Hilario; her mother, Maria; her brothers, Innocencio and Alfonso Martinez; her sister, Guadalupe Esparza.
Margarita is survived by her sisters, Rosa (Martin) Zapata and Dolores Alvarez; her brothers, Alejandro (Fidela) Martinez, Reynaldo Martinez, and Lorenzo (Sylvia) Martinez; along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary prayed at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
The funeral precession will depart San Benito Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 9:30 A.M. for a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
