Margarita Ramos Garcia

San Benito, TX - Margarita Ramos Garcia, 81, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Margarita was born in Barranca Alta in Los Fresnos and was a lifelong resident of Villa Cavazos.
Margarita is survived by her husband, Amancio Vela Garcia (age eighty-four) and had been happily married for sixty-four years. Margarita had nine children: Ninfa (Ismael) Gracia, Gilbert (Gracie) Garcia, Dora (Poncho) Valdez, Berta (Carlos) Barbosa, Adan (Carmen) Garcia, Irma (Tony) Guerrero, Noemi (Mando) Benavidez, and Norma Garcia.
She is preceded in death by her son, Amancio Jr. Garcia (July, 1971).
Margarita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind nineteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. As a mother, Margarita dedicated her life to caring for her children and guided them toward pursuing their education - always providing undying support and unconditional love. Grandma Mage was a very faithful believer who cared about everyone she touched and was famous for making the “best flour tortillas”. Her greatest love and devotion was caring for her beloved husband, Amancio, and had been his primary caretaker throughout the last ten years. Her strong faith and belief in eternal life allowed her to be the strong, solid backbone of the Garcia family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at San Benito Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church located at 1055 Military Rd., in Brownsville. Interment will follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Israel Gracia, Adrian Benavidez, Roel Valdez, Danny Garcia, Jaime Barbosa, and Sergio Garcia; honorary pallbearers will be Ismael Gracia Jr., Armando Benavidez Jr., Rene Garcia Jr., Omar Barbosa, Orlando Garcia, and Erik Garcia.
