Margaret Elizabeth Huebotter Kelley, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 in Harlingen, where she had been a resident since 1969. Margie was born in 1924 in Houston, Texas, one of eight children born to William Frederick Huebotter and Ellen Eckert Huebotter. She was married for 59 years to Edward A. Kelley who died in 2002.
Margie graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston where she met her husband Ed. Throughout their marriage, Margie and Ed were enthusiastic ballroom dancers. Margie was also an avid bridge player. Margie was known for her vivacious personality, her love of fashion, and her steadfast courage during an eleven year battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Margie is survived by her two children, Kent A. Kelley of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Kay E. Kelley of Harlingen, and her two grandchildren, John Carlos Kelley and Katherine Min Kelley of Eden Prairie. She is also survived by her brother, William F. Huebotter of Houston and her sisters, Dorothy Kadi of Austin and Helen Yawn of Houston.
Friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 710 Ed Carey Drive, Harlingen. The visitation hours will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church, Harlingen, with the Rev. Justin Jones officiating. Funeral services and burial will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston on a date to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 402 East Jackson Street, Harlingen 78550.
