Margaret W. Fabian

Margaret Fabian, 79, a long term resident of the Rio Grande Valley (Laguna Vista, Bayview, and currently Harlingen), passed away in her home Sunday, September 21, 2014.  She died from complications of breast cancer.  She was born Margaret Lucille Wright on July 8, 1935, near Guymon, Oklahoma, to George and Hazel Wright.   She married Bill E. Fabian in September 1960.  She completed law school at the University of Missouri at Kansas City and was admitted to the Kansas Bar in 1976.  She joined the law firm of McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips in Kansas City, Kansas, where her husband also practiced law. She retired in 1989, when she and Bill moved to Laguna Vista, Texas, where they made a large number of friends.  She and her husband were very active in St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church in Port Isabel.  Margaret is pre-deceased by her husband Bill Fabian (2007), and a granddaughter, Stephanie Fabian (2011). Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Donna Wright of Guymon, Oklahoma; daughter Carol Fabian and son-in-law Stephen Roweton of Kansas City; son and daughter-in-law Bill and Nancy Fabian of Fincastle, Virginia; granddaughters Jennifer Roweton Nydegger of Kansas City and Shannon Fabian Riffel of Chantilly, Virginia; a grandson Clinton Fabian Roweton of Kansas City; and 5 great-grandchildren--Reese and Evelyn Nydegger, Dominic Roweton, and Lucy and Alice Riffel.  She is also survived by her foster son, Doyle Clark, of the home in Harlingen. Margaret was known for her love of her family, her church, her friends, her dogs and birds, and a good glass of wine. She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at St. Andrews by the Sea Episcopal Church Sunday, October 5, at 4:00 with a reception to follow.  Please send any flowers or memorial cards and donations to St. Andrew’s by the Sea Episcopal Church:
