Margaret Mae Walters Congdon, 87, was granted her wings to ascend to Heaven on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
Margaret was born October 29, 1923 in Sherman, TX to Roy and Clara Walters. She and her husband, William Congdon were residents and business owners in Harlingen for over 50 years. She was a bookkeeper with Valley Weather Makers for many years and a member of the First Christian Church in Harlingen.
Margaret is survived by her niece, Cassie (James) Davis and children of Portland, TX; stepdaughters, Janice (Gary) Nycum and children of Corpus Christi, TX and Teresa Congdon and children also of Corpus Christi, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Congdon.
A special thanks to her best friends, Mary Eleaner Simich and Nan Ahrendt who gave her and her family much comfort through her life. Also, a special thank you goes to Ruben Garcia and Rick Garcia who were loyal employees of Margaret for many years and to the staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center and Odyssey Hospice for their kindness and care.
Margaret will be remembered as someone who loved to travel, be with her friends and most of all that she loved her home.
A memorial service will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home, 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2011 with the Rev. Mark Coppins officiating.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial donations to the charity of choice.
