Margaret Annelle “Granny” Clausen left this world on January 3, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center to be with her Lord, with her loving husband Vernon E. Clausen of 57 years holding her hand.
She was born August 6, 1929 in Kingsville, Texas to Margaret Louise Doane Miller and Gustaf Edward Miller who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Michael Eugene Clausen. She was a graduate of Texas Christian University. After meeting and marrying the love of her life they lived in Harlingen, Texas where she was fulltime homemaker. She wrote the article “Granny’s Ramblings” for the Valley Morning Star for 25 years. She was very involved with the Tip O Texas Genealogical Society where she received a lot of recognition and awards for all of her services. She was also very involved with the Harlingen Public Library and their summer reading program where she would make book bags for each of the participants, as sewing was one of her favorite past times.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon E. Clausen, son, Bruce Eugene Clausen of Johnson City, Texas and her daughter, Amylou Myra Clausen Foale (Mike) of Harlingen, Texas. She is survived by seven beautiful grandchildren that she adored, Eric Lee Clausen (Shelley) of Johnson City, Texas, Andrew Scott Clausen (Laura) of Harlingen, Texas, Chrystal Myra Foale (Eric Lee) of Ft. Meade, Maryland, Brandi Lynn Clausen of Corpus Christi, Texas, Sarah Jannette Faole, Kelly Louise Foale, and Lauren Alexis Faole all of Harlingen, Texas.
There will be a memorial services on January 8, 2010, 1 p.m., at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home in Harlingen with Rev. David Mann, officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tip O Texas Genealogical Society, Friends of the Library or a charity of their choice.
