July 29, 1954 — May 27, 2010

El Paso/Harlingen, TX:
Marcia Keller passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at her residence in El Paso, TX.
Marcia was born July 29, 1954 in Limestone, Maine to Major Charles Vernon Keller (USAF Ret.) of Illinois and Eula Mae “Tiny” Keller of Arkansas.  Marcia was the youngest of their four children. After attending Irvin High School, Marcia attended the University of Texas at El Paso, where she graduated in 1976 with a BA degree and ranked in the top 10 graduating seniors in her class.  This was an outstanding accomplishment as Marcia was blind and had other physical impairments.
Marcia was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.  Since 1934, the National Who’s Who program has recognized outstanding campus leaders for their achievements.  Through years of serving higher education, Who’s Who Among Students exists as one of the most highly regarded and long-standing honors programs in the nation, having earned the overwhelming respect of college faculties and administrations. For the students-the outstanding campus leaders of the year – national recognition by the Who’s Who program marks a pinnacle of scholastic achievement.
Marcia taught children with disabilities in the Canutillo, New Mexico School District and later was a teacher with the El Paso Independent School District for many years.  She retired from teaching and devoted her remaining years to charitable endeavors.  She was an accomplished pianist and performed in a number of concerts in El Paso.  She was a member of the Choir of the Southwest and other Choirs in El Paso and toured Europe with them.  Marcia was an active volunteer with Hospice of El Paso and the Light House for the Blind.  She was an inspiration to many children with disabilities and demonstrated that nothing is impossible.
