María Socorro (Saavedra) Castro

María Socorro Castro, 91, passed peacefully from this life on October 29, 2020.  She was born to the late Juan Saavedra and Hilaria Alvarado Saavedra on April 21, 1929 in Sonora, Texas.

Left to treasure María Socorro’s memory are her husband, José Hipólito Castro; children, María de Jesús (Vicente) Gutiérrez, Vicenta (Ángel) Zuvieta, Hilaria (Andrés) Niño, Gilberto (Leonor) Castro; grandchildren, José Ángel Zuvieta, Luis Alfredo Zuvieta, G. Victoria Zuvieta, Andrea Niño, Javier Niño, Kristina Niño, Connie Salinas, Juana Yvette Barrientos, Fabian Castro, and Noelia Castro; great-grandchildren, Mariana Ellise Zuvieta, Maritza Nicole Zuvieta, Elayna Kay Zuvieta, Noah Michael Zuvieta, Andres E. Sifuentes, Dylan Salinas, Jonah Salinas, Ethan Salinas, Airam Y. Barrientos, Leonardo Barrientos, Dominic Perez, and Ian Castro.

María Socorro was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Hilaria A. Saavedra.

Visitation will take place Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at San Benito Funeral Home.  A prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. and a recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. (Both services may be viewed online via live-stream by clicking the link below.) Maria Socorro will be laid to rest on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Javier Niño, Fabian Castro, Luis Zuvieta, José Ángel Zuvieta, Andres Niño, and Ángel Zuvieta.
