María Rendón Mena

María R. Mena, 90, peacefully passed away at her home on October 9, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

María is preceded in death by her husband, Candelario Mena; son, Alfredo Mena; daughter, Anselma León; brothers, Ambrosio León and Román Rendón; and sister, Teresa Neri.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Gilberto (Gloria) León, Filomena (Ruben) Salinas, Amalia León, Guadalupe León, Ricardo (Elida) León, Rosalinda Mena, Raul Mena, José C. Mena, Antonio Mena, Juanita (Mike) Carmona, Ana (Francisco) Meléndez, and Arturo (Nelda) Mena. She is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Texas Visiting Nurse Service for their compassionate care.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Joseph M. Mena, Saul Meléndez, Bryan Barrón, Steven Barrón, Eric Meléndez, and Joel A. Mena. Honorary pallbearers are María Meléndez and Ruben Salinas, Jr.

Visitation will take place Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Thursday evening at 7 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Following the Mass, Maria will be laid to rest at San Benito Memorial Park Cemetery.
