María E. Treviño

María E. Treviño, 93, passed peacefully in her sleep early Thursday, October 12, 2022. She was born to the late Jesús Escamilla and Felicitas Rangel on January 6, 1929 in Barreda, Texas.

As a child, she attended Fred Booth Elementary. In her leisure time, María enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, watching her favorite TV novelas, attending family gatherings, and eating seafood and BBQ. She especially enjoyed attending Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church where she was a faithful member.

María is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Elías Treviño Sr.; her grandsons, Mark Treviño and Jesse Treviño; her parents, Jesús and Felicitas Rangel; her siblings, Ramón Escamilla, José Escamilla, Virginia Treviño, and Juanita Reyna; and sons-in-law, Ricardo De León and Robert Gonzalez.

Left to treasure Maria’s memory are her children, Graciela (Miguel) Orozco, Estela De León, Olivia Perez, Elías (Judy) Treviño Jr., Guadalupe “Wally” Treviño, Arminda T. “Mindy” Gonzalez, and Yolanda Treviño. She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, and seven great great-grandchildren.

Maria’s family wishes to thank the caring staff of Windsor Atrium for their compassionate care.

The Treviño family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin Friday evening at 7 o’clock. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Following the Mass, María will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Omar R. Gonzalez, Emanuel L. Gonzales, Edgar Moreno, Hector Ruelas, Ramsey Treviño, and Juan Treviño.
