HARLINGEN/SAN BENITO, TX. – “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself that where I am you may also be.” John 14: 1-3

Manuelita Agado Garcia, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, affectionately called by some of her nephews “Mommy”, was called home to our Lord on Monday, May 18, 2015 surrounded by family at her residence. She was 101 years old.

Manuelita was a long time resident of San Benito and moved to Harlingen 15 years prior to her death. She was a parishioner of St. Theresa Catholic Church and longtime member of the Vela Perpetual Ladies Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Miguel S. Garcia; parents, Juan and Amalia Agado; brothers Jose, Ignacio, Gilberto, Daniel, and Juan Agado; and sisters, Juanita A. Martin, Dolores A. Falcon, Concepcion Gonzales, Adela A. Cervantes, and Amelia A. Gonzales. Also preceding her in death are her son-in-laws Jose G. Reyna and Albert C. Galvan.

Survivors include her loving daughters Mary Lou Fernandez, Minerva Reyna, and Melva G. Galvan; her cherished and adored grandchildren, Christopher (Nicole) Galvan and Rebecca (Jonathan) Baggett; and “the sparkle in her eyes” her great-grandson, Henry Watts Baggett. Additionally she is survived by her brother Manuel (Lupita) Agado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and considered her additional grandchildren.

Visiting hours are on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, beginning at four o’clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o’clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock in the evening within the San Benito Funeral Home Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at two o’clock in the afternoon, in St. Theresa Catholic Church. Committal services will then follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are her nephews Mario Cervantes, Noel Cervantes, Manuel Agado, Jr., Carlos Agado, Daniel Agado, and Ricardo Agado. Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Agado and David Gonzales.
