Manuel Agado, Sr., age 97, entered eternal life on January 12, 2025, in Harlingen, TX. Manuel was born on March 4, 1927, in San Benito, TX to the late Juan and Amalia Garcia Agado.

Born the ninth of 13 children, Manuel was a veteran of World War II. Serving as a Private First Class on the USS General M. C. Meigs and the U.S Hospital Ship, The Ernestine Koranda. His time in the Army included tours to Japan, Guam, Philippines, and Hawaii. After serving in the military, Manuel earned his certification in welding from TSTI, now TSTC, and worked as a welder and hydraulic and air specialist at Trucker’s Equipment for 37 years. 

Manuel truly loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fishermen, gardener, and spent most of his days on woodworking. He was an active parishioner at St. Theresa Catholic Church and would volunteer his time constructing booths for the annual fall festivals. In his later years, he loved to spend time at his family ranch with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Amalia Garcia, six brothers, six sisters, and granddaughter, Christina Marie Agado. 

He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe “Lupita” Agado; sons, Manuel (Cindy) Agado, Jr., Ricardo (Martha) Agado, Sr., Carlos (Maria del Socorro) Agado, Sr., Diego (Patricia) Agado, Sr.; grandchildren, Manuel Adolfo (Linda) Agado, III., Christopher Edward (Sabrina) Agado, Amanda Marie Barrera, Ricardo (Katie) Agado, Jr., Carlos Agado, Jr. (Anyssa Grace), Michael Joseph Agado, Nickolas Agado, Patrick Adam Agado, Diego Samuel Agado, Jr., Juan Gabriel Agado; great-grandchildren, Ayla Christina, Jenna Renee, Nathan Jeremiah, Mila Christina, Regan Hope, Emilee Raye, Jhocelyn Marie, and Emma Riley. 

The Agado family will receive friends and relatives on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7 o’clock Wednesday evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., St. Theresa Catholic Church celebrated by Fr. Joe Villalon and Fr. Pat Seitz. Following the Mass, Manuel will be laid to rest at Mont Meta Memorial Park.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Manuel Agado, III, Christopher Edward Agado, Carlos Agado, Jr., Michael Joseph Agado, Patrick Adam Agado, and Ricardo Agado Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Diego Samuel Agado Jr., Juan Gabriel Agado, and Nickolas Agado, and great-grandchildren.
