SAN BENITO, TX. – Luis Becerra, Sr., age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, after a long battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family.
Luis, Sr. is survived by his wife Christina V. Becerra of 53 years; his son Luis (Teresa) Becerra, Jr. and their son Luis Becerra III (fiancé Clare Perkins); his daughter Kathleen M. (Miguel) Garcia and their children Joseph M. Lopez, Christina Garcia, and Monica Garcia; his son Mark A. Becerra (fiancé Vanessa Ortiz) and his sons Mark Anthony and Michael Anthony; his son Ronald M. (JoAnn) Becerra and their children Victoria, Alicia, and Matthew. He is also survived by his brothers Frank and Manuel Becerra and by his sisters Consuelo Nunez and Aurora Guzman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Guadalupe Becerra; and by his sisters, Dolores Villanueva and Eva Cavazos.
Luis, Sr. was a veteran of the Armed Forces, serving in both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy. Luis was a passionate man who enjoyed fishing and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed playing games, gardening, and watching TV (especially Old Western and karate movies.) He also had many wonderful times and memories with his faithful companion, Lucky, his miniature Schnauzer.
A special thanks to family and friends who provided food and goodies and above all, their prayers and support in our time of need. A special thanks to Dr. Kota, M.D. and staff for providing Luis the medical care he received. A special thanks to Heart of the Valley Hospice Center family for their loving and gentle care to not only Luis, but the family. Also thanks to San Benito Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 121 Garrison Drive, San Benito, Texas 78586 in his name, Luis, Becerra, Sr.
