Lucy Jane Haynes, 62, passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home in Mission, Texas, on April 2, 2017. Lucy fought bravely for over a year, but lost her fight against an aggressive cancer.
Lucy was born on January 18th, 1955 in McAllen, Texas to C.L. “Pete” Seawell and Betty Louise (Wilkinson) Seawell. She was the youngest of 3 girls. She graduated from P.S.J.A. High School. Lucy had one son, Lash Hutto, in 1981. Her son was her treasure, and the joy of her life. Lucy studied Reading Education, and earned her bachelor's degree at Texas A & M University in Laredo, Texas. She married E. Donald Haynes on February 3rd, 1986. In 1990, the family moved to Mission, and she was a dedicated teacher for La Joya I.S.D. for 24 years.
Lucy was the life of the party at any get-together. Her dad used to joke that Lucy had never met a stranger. She loved to talk, listen, give advice, and make others feel special. She always went above and beyond for anyone who needed her help. Lucy enjoyed country living, and spending time outdoors with her husband and son at their Mission home, as well as at their ranch in Poteet. She loved her livestock, and her beloved pets.
