John W. Temple, 87, passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his residence.
John was born on March 7, 1922 in Nicholsville, Kentucky to Ulysses Jewell and Mary Stipe Temple. Mr. Temple proudly served his country for 33 years in the U.S. Army/Air Force during WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam and retired as a Lt. Colonel. After retiring from the military he was employed with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department in Indiana.
John is survived by his wife of 17 year, Graciela Temple; step-children, Diana (Frank) Sanchez and Refugio (Mayra) Jaso, Jr.; nephew Larry (Sherrie) Temple and their children Alex and Jonathan Temple; and five step-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission at 10 a.m. with full military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post 205 of Harlingen.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
