Loretta (Rita) Ferrell, 74, passed away June 6, 2008 at her residence. Rita was born December 22, 1933 in La Feria, Texas to William and Vera Strickland. She enjoyed family, reading, and puzzles. Rita had a love for cowboys, fishing and cats.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Vernon Ferrell; mother and father, Vera and William Strickland; brother, John D. Strickland; and sisters, Churlis (Aunt Bobbie) Wilowski, Ruby Earlean Green and Frances Marie Siddle.
She is survived by her sister, Geraldine Hale, Jr. of Firebaugh, CA; her son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Patricia Johnson of Fort Walton Beach, FL, son and daughter-in-law, William (Bill) and Ruth Johnson of Sealy, TX, son and daughter-in-law Johnny Lee and Debbie Johnson of Corpus Christi, daughter Carol Sue Johnson of Lincoln, IL, daughter Sara Villarreal of Harlingen, son Joseph Ferrell of Harlingen, 20 grand children, 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and loved by all.
Funeral services will be held at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2008 with Rev. David Mann officiating.
