KERRVILLE, TX:
Lometa “Grandmommie” Schulgen, at age 85, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2007. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 10, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Restlawn Cemetery in La Feria, Texas officiated by Dr. Warren Hornung.
She was born October 8, 1921 to Selba and Ethel Hill in Greenville, Texas. She married the love of her life, George “Pinky” Schulgen, Sr., who was stationed at Majors Air Force Base in Greenville, Texas, at the time of their marriage.  In 1945, after the war they moved to Pinky’s hometown of Santa Rosa, Texas, where they raised four children: Larry (wife Connie) now living in Missouri City, Texas; George, Jr. (wife Florence) of Kerrville, Texas; Marcia Usher (husband Joe) of Houston, Texas; and Ron (wife Linda) of Kerrville, Texas.  They, along with twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, survive.  Other survivors include a sister, Gloria Johnson of Garland, Texas, and a brother-in-law, Paul Carter, also of Garland, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George, Sr., in 2001, Kerrville, Texas.
Lometa was a member of the Santa Rosa Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, past president of the Texas A & M Mother’s Club, and also helped Pinky host several annual reunions of the 48th Squadron Fighter Group of World War II at Port Isabel/South Padre Island where they moved to in 1968.  She resided there until 2004 when she moved to Kerrville. Lometa will be greatly missed!
