April 16, 1924 — December 7, 2013

Lois Glades Simpson Goad, 89, of San Benito, Texas went to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Lois was born on April 16, 1924 to Benjamin and Bessie Simpson in Honey Grove, Texas. She spent her early years in Oklahoma and moved with her parents and siblings to Lyford, Texas when she was about 11 years old. She graduated from Lyford High School and worked in Harlingen, Texas where she met and married her husband of 67 years, Waite Winston Goad.
Lois lived and worked on her farm in San Benito for 52 years. She had a variety of interests and spent her life raising her seven children, volunteering for Highland Hustlers 4-H Club and the Ladies Auxiliary for VFW Post 2410, and working on the farm she and Waite so dearly loved. She worked in her garden and always had plants to care for and propagate. Her plant interests included bromeliads and orchids which filled her front porch and home. She particularly enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and other wild birds that fed on the flowers and fields surrounding her home.
Lois is survived by her husband, Waite W. Goad of San Benito, Texas; her children, Gerald (Linda) Goad of Racine, Wisconsin, Marilyn Smith of Elko, Nevada, Chester Goad of Round Rock, Texas, Barbara Jackson of Harlingen, Texas, Shirley (Roger) Westhoff of Porter, Texas, Norman (Anne) Goad of Houston, Texas, and William (Sherilyn) Goad of San Benito, Texas; her grandchildren Renee (Israel) Casares, Laura (Mark) Goadrich, Leighanne Jackson, Kirk Jackson, Brandon (Alma) Jackson, Katherine (Craig) Westhoff Larner, Matthew Westhoff, Shannon Goad, Rebecca Goad, Nichole Goad, and William Goad II; and 10 great-grandchildren.
