Lloyd Eldon Pratt Jr. born June 22 1928 to Pauline Lynch Pratt and Lloyd Eldon Pratt Lloyd was born in Houston, Texas passed away January 23, 2012. He moved to Harlingen when he was 2 years old.  Lloyd has been a resident of Harlingen for 83 years. He was a graduate of Harlingen High School and a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Then he attended St Mary's Law School in San Antonio.  He served as airman and officer with the United States Air Force stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming and San Antonio, Texas. Lloyd met the love of his life Jean Anne Ferris at the University of Texas and they married the summer of 1950.  In 1953 Lloyd started his insurance career with Prudential Insurance Company as a Regional Manager.  In 1960 he started an independent agency.
Lloyd was a Chartered Life Underwriter and a member Rotary Club International (President of Harlingen Rotary), Salvation Army (lifetime member), Harlingen Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Harlingen United Way, Past Director and Treasurer of Harlingen Jaycees, Gideons International, active member of The Wednesday Men's Bible Study, Steward of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Jean Anne Ferris Pratt; daughter Melinda Pratt Covert of Austin; sons Mark Bentley Pratt of Harlingen and David Eldon Frank Pratt of Dallas; grandchildren Conley Covert, Cameron Covert, Brittany Pratt, Shelby Pratt, Paige Pratt; and a great granddaughter Allison. He is also survived by (like family) Rosa Torres housekeeper of 30+ years and Israel Ramon a caregiver and friend.  Lloyd was a friend to many but his best was Frank Nelson Boggus his lifelong friend of 80 years who was more like a brother.
Lloyd was a wonderful husband, father, son, and grandfather. He loved to laugh and especially loved making others laugh.
A memorial service celebrating Lloyd’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, 11 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Hinchcliff, which will be preceded by a private gravesite service. The family invites you to join them for a reception immediately following the service in the Charter Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Boggus, Lyle DeBolt, Wally Van Wyk, Max Harris, Ned Davis, Sam Greenfeld, Tommy Caruth, Wayne Sheffey, Mike Fennegan, Louis Nicholson, Billy Busa, Bob Boggus, Paul DeBolt, Tudor Uhlhorn, John Van Wyk, Houston Yarbrough, Greg Powers, Bill Youngblood and Jim Youngblood.
