Lloyd George Brotzman

December 8, 1927 — May 3, 2007

Lloyd George Brotzman, 79, died Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.  Born December 8, 1927 in Sebastian, Texas, Lloyd went through the Rio Hondo school system, attended Southwestern University and the University of Texas at Austin as a Naval Air Caden, and then attended Texas A & I University after discharge from the Navy.  Lloyd farmed in Rio Hondo over 40 years, serving on the Board of Directors of the Rio Hondo Co-op Gin, Cameron County Farm Bureau, the Valley Co-op Oil Mill, as well as the Rio Hondo School Board.  In retirement at Palm Valley, Lloyd enjoyed golfing with family and friends and chaired the Greens Committe while serving on the Board of the Harlingen Country Club.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wilma "Sis" Brotzman, brothers, Homer Deane Brotzman and Richard Dale Brotsman, sister Kathleen Louise Brotzman Frankenberg, son Curtis Lloyd Brotzman, daughter Tammerie Brotzman Spires Day, granddaughters Courtney Erin Brotzman and Harper Belle Spires and grandsons Duncan Curtis Brotzman and Chandler Bradley Spires.  Lloyd was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Wilburn Brotzman.

A memorial service will be held for Lloyd at the Rio Hondo Baptist Church, 10:00 AM on May 8, 2007.  Honorary Pallbearers will include John Canville, Edward "Ned" Cooley, John Cutney, Daniel Lanoue, Joe Neely, Tom Nesmith, David Newell, Dennis O'Brien, Harold Pearson, Robert Ross, Kenneth "Butch" Sims and William "Bill Werley.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Music Program of Rio Hondo Baptist Church.
