Lily De León Ramirez, 87, peacefully passed from this life on Tuesday, April 4, 2022. She was born to the late Nazario De León and Adela Pérez De León on June 6, 1934 in San Benito, Texas.
Lily was a proud graduate of San Benito High School. She completed her nursing studies and became a Registered Nurse. She was an employee of Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital and later APC Home Health until her retirement after dedicating more than 30 years to helping others. She was a devout Catholic, a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, and an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Moisés Ramirez; her parents, Nazario and Adela P. De León; her sister, Eva De León Cortez; and her brothers, Jose De León and Francisco De León.
Left to treasure Lily’s memory is her son, Moisés Ramirez; her grandchildren, Mikail Moisés Ramirez, John Patrick Ramirez, Jacob Grey Ramirez, Molly Kate Ramirez, and Anthony Andrew Ramirez, all of Madison, Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews; many lifelong friends; and her Catholic Daughters of America sisters.
Lily’s family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen, 3rd Floor and of the Intensive Care Unit for their compassionate care.
The Ramirez family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buck Ashcraft San Benito Funeral Home. At 6:30 p.m., the Catholic Daughters of America will lead a recitation of the Holy Rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church with Co-Celebrants the Rev. Fr. Isaac Emeka Erondu and the Rev. Fr. Mario Alberto Castro. Following the Mass, Rite of Committal and interment will take place at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Moisés Ramirez, Rene Ramirez, Jacob Ramirez, Samuel Quintanilla, Danny Quintanilla, and Joshua Rojas. Anthony Ramirez will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
