Lillie (Lil) Fletcher died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen.  Lillie was born October 7, 1921 in Pine Mountain, Georgia the daughter of John R. and Leslie Self Hadley. She moved to the Rio Grande Valley following World War II with her husband and son in 1945.
Lillie was active in various civic clubs in Harlingen.  She was active in organizing a Republican Party in Cameron County.  She served with her husband, Bill, as President of the Algodon Club in 1967 and was chosen as Dona in 1970.  She was honored by being chosen as a “Golden Dona” in 2002.  She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile of Alzafar Temple in San Antonio, Texas. Lillie was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Harlingen.  She served on the board of directors for their day school in its beginning and on numerous other committees.
Survivors are three grandchildren, Kristin Crane of Midland, TX, Katherine and Scott Stovall of Weatherford, TX and Michael and Deana Fletcher of San Angelo, TX; five great grandchildren, Casey and Collin Crane, Cameron and Alexis Fletcher, and Lily Stovall, they have been the joy of her life.  Lillie is also survived by four nieces and their families, whom she dearly loved, all reside in Georgia.
Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, Billy “Bill” Fletcher; a son, Michael Fletcher; two brothers, Bill and Hubert Hadley; and one sister, Rose Woodruff.
Her family would like to thank her numerous friends for all of their love, support and assistance during her difficult times.  We would also like to thank Delia Gomez for her friendship and years of service.
Lillie will be remembered for her laughter, for her steadfast faith, the happiness she brought to so many and her loved she shared with all.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 10 a.m., on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 with the Reverend Tim Brewer officiating.
