Lillian Mae (Jacobs) Long, 91, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Deer Creek Nursing Home in Wimberley, Texas.
Lillian was born October 21, 1919 in Pierce, Oklahoma to Sherdon and Cora Pennington.  She was a longtime resident of the Valley living in Sebastian, Lyford and Harlingen.
Lillian was the Cafeteria Manager for the Sebastian Schools for over 20 years.  She attended First Baptist Church of Sebastian for many years, where she led the singing at every service.
Lillian enjoyed making beautiful hand-sewn quilts, fishing and entertaining church friends and family in her home.
She is survived by children, Daniel (Vicki) Jacobs of Wimberley, TX, Joyce Finley of Oklahoma City, OK, Jackie (Ronnie) Hicks of San Angelo, TX; stepchildren, Eddie (Nan) Long of Harlingen, Brooks (Debbie) Long of Ozona, TX and Deborah (Mack) Harrell of Harlingen; sister, Louise Kaigler of Brennan, TX; 10 grandchildren, Alan Jacobs, Suzanne Haus, Jennifer Nugier, Curtis Kennon, Mandy Kennon, Dustin Finley, Daniel Finley, T.J. Finley, Beverly Farmer, and  Linda El Moursi; and several great grandchildren.
Lillian was preceded in death by husband Ed Long, her first husband, Lee Jacobs and grandson, Brad Kennon.
Visitation hours will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Buck Ashcraft Funeral Home.
Graveside services only will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lyford, Thursday, July 14, 2011, 10:00 AM with the Rev. Bill Hart officiating.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home, 9:00 AM, Thursday for an informal procession to the cemetery.  The cemetery is located north of the football stadium in Lyford.  If traveling north on Expressway 77 from Harlingen you would take the Broadway exit and go to Business Hwy 77.  From there you would turn right on Business 77 and then left at the first crossing and got until the road T’s and then left directly to the cemetery.
