HARLINGEN:
Lillian Maurice Crosthwait died on March 7, 2007 in Harlingen, Texas. She was born on September 7, 1930 to Mack McGaha Moon and Iva Lucille (Grier) Moon in Palmer Texas.
Lillian lived a busy and joyful life. Her Interests included reading, learning and traveling with her husband all over the USA and Mexico as well as many trips to Europe. Having a college professor for a husband offered many learning opportunities and she enrolled in whatever class took her fancy. When Charles retired and they returned to live in Harlingen in 1988 she once again took up the study of Spanish.
The Methodist Church was always an important part of her life wherever she lived and her church family at Harlingen FUMC gave her a lot of love and support. She served on the Administrative Board for a number of years and lent her hands to various endeavors of the church.
She and Charles enjoyed the Harlingen County Club and have been active members for 20 years. Lillian was an active member of the 12:30 Club and served as President and Vice President. Charles is an avid golfer and continues his involvement. He has served as President of the Men’s Golf Association.
Lillian is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Crosthwait; her sister, Janice Moon of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and her sister-in-law, Irene Lewis of Clovis, New Mexico – a former member of FUMC Harlingen. She is also survived by her four nieces, Chris Stutz, Pam Haynes, Cindy Bambrick and Tracie Anderson and her nephew Michael Earl Lewis and their children and families who were all very special to her. Lillian leaves behind a host of life long friends who she treasured – Sue McBurnett, Rosemary Hughey, Jill Smith and Bea Krueger.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Charles Crosthwait and her parents.
A celebration of Lillian’s life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007, 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Purdy officiating.
