SAN BENITO, TX. – Leonard C. Kowalsky went to be with his Lord and Savior and many loved ones on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 25, 1931 to George and Leona Kowalsky. Leonard attended St. Matthew Lutheran Grammar School and Chelsea High School. Shortly afterward, he married Sophie Schneider at St. John Lutheran Church in San Benito, Texas. They had recently celebrated 60 years of marriage in January 2015. After a short time in Detroit, he and Sophie moved back to San Benito. Upon his return, he served St. John Lutheran Church as trustee and head usher for several years. Leonard retired as superintendent from Rio Grande Cotton Seed Oil Mill after 37 years of being a loyal and dedicated employee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and numerous aunts and uncles.

He left behind his loving wife, Sophie; three sisters Noreene Klann, Jackie Klann, and JoAnn Fransik; one brother, Jerome Kowalsky; his favorite brother-in-law, Eddie Schneider and wife, Lenora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leonard was the most loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed dearly.

In lieu of floral arrangements, the family requests donations be made to a charity of their choice.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4: 7-8
