Chaplain Mac was born and raised in the panhandle of Texas.  While in high school he surrendered to the calling to preach and upon graduation attended Wayland Baptist College.
He then enlisted in the Marine Corps in WWII and served a year on Midway Island before attending officer training and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.  Upon release from active duty he attended Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary before being recalled to serve during the Korean Conflict.  In 1953 he was accepted in the Navy Chaplain Corps and proudly served at numerous duty stations until 1979 when he retired as Chaplain of his beloved Marine Corps.
He continued to wear a uniform for 28 more rewarding years as Chaplain of the Marine Military Academy.  After all his travels, Mac made so many wonderful friends in Harlingen that he decided to call it home for good.  He will be sorely missed!
